Description

Hi Octane Racing Bolt-On Turbocharger Kit for Nissan Skyline RB26DETT (R32, R33, R34 GTR Models)

Our Hi Octane Racing bolt-on turbocharger kit is specifically designed for the Nissan Skyline RB26DETT engine, compatible with the R32, R33, and R34 GTR models. This kit includes all the necessary components to mount these turbochargers onto the factory manifolds and connect seamlessly with the factory dump pipes, requiring no additional modifications.

Kit Contents:

  • 2 x Garrett GT2860R Turbochargers (aka -5s) with 15.5psi actuator assemblies

  • 1 x Complete gasket kit (from cylinder head to front pipe)

  • 1 x Ball bearing upgrade oil drain kit (2 pieces, fits factory hoses)

  • 2 x Oil feed banjo bolts

  • Vacuum line T-Piece and replacement silicone vacuum hose

  • All required studs, nuts, and copper washers

Product Features:

  • Bearing Type: Ball Bearing

  • Cooling System: Oil & Water Cooled

  • Turbine Housing: Internally Wastegated 0.64a/r

  • Base Flange: T25 Nissan Skyline GTR Specific

  • Exhaust Outlet Flange: 5 Bolt Nissan Skyline GTR Specific

  • Actuator Pressure: 15.59psi

  • Horsepower: 250 - 360

  • Previous Part Number: 707160-5005S

Production Notes:

  • Turbine Housing: The 0.64a/r Turbine Housing allows for good low to mid-range power even on factory engines.

  • Factory Turbo Orientation: Oil Feed and Water Lines from the factory Turbochargers can be re-used, and the orientation is in an identical position to the factory setup, allowing for easy re-fitment.

  • Factory Turbo Position: These Turbochargers are identical to a factory unit, utilizing the factory manifold and exhaust system.

Product Notes:

  • Aftermarket oil drains are required, which we offer to match these Turbochargers with the factory oil drain hoses (see related items).

  • This Turbocharger is a direct bolt-on replacement for the Nissan RB26DETT (Skyline GTR R32/R33/R34, Stagea 260RS).

  • These are known as the R32 Bathurst Spec Turbochargers, more suited to engines with cylinder head modifications (e.g., drop-in cams, porting, etc.).

  • The Turbine Housing has a unique compact 5 bolt pattern, not interchangeable with the traditional 5 bolt CA18DET/SR20DET pattern.

Choosing a Twin Turbo Kit:

GT2860R-5 (-5 turbos)

  • Power Potential: ~370–450 kW at the engine (~310–380 kW at the wheels).
  • Spool Characteristics: Full boost around 4,000–4,200 RPM.
  • Trade-offs: Higher peak power but slower spool. Best for high-end performance and track use rather than responsive street driving.

GT2860R-7 (-7 turbos)

  • Power Potential: ~270–300 kW at the wheels (~330–360 kW at the engine).
  • Spool Characteristics: Full boost around 3,300 RPM.
  • Trade-offs: Best for street applications, offering a balance of power and responsiveness. Less peak power than -5 but much better low-end response.

GT2860R-9 (-9 turbos)

  • Power Potential: Similar to -7, around 270–300 kW at the wheels (~330–360 kW at the engine).
  • Spool Characteristics: Full boost around 3,400–3,500 RPM.
  • Trade-offs: Very similar to -7, with minor differences in boost delivery. Slightly better mid-range response than -5 or -10.

GT2860R-10 (-10 turbos)

  • Power Potential: ~370–450 kW at the engine (~310–380 kW at the wheels), similar to -5.
  • Spool Characteristics: Full boost around 4,000 RPM.
  • Trade-offs: High top-end power like the -5 but sacrifices low-end responsiveness.

Compressor & Turbine Wheel Differences

  • The -5, -7, -9, and -10 turbos all use GT28/GT2860-series compressor wheels, but their design and flow characteristics vary slightly.
  • The -5 and -10 turbos feature larger turbine wheels, allowing for higher peak power but slower spool.
  • The -7 and -9 turbos have smaller turbine wheels, prioritizing response over max power.

Rear Housing (Turbine A/R) Sizes

Turbo Turbine A/R Notes
GT2860R-5 (-5) 0.64 A/R Larger turbine, high peak power, slower spool.
GT2860R-7 (-7) 0.64 A/R Smaller turbine, fast spool, less peak power.
GT2860R-9 (-9) 0.64 A/R Similar to -7, but minor flow/tuning differences.
GT2860R-10 (-10) 0.86 A/R Larger turbine, even more peak power than -5, but later spool.

The -10 has the biggest rear housing (0.86 A/R), which means it can flow more exhaust gases and support higher power levels but will take longer to reach full boost. The -5 also flows well but with a slightly smaller housing than the -10.

The -7 and -9 turbos, with 0.64 A/R housings, prioritize a quicker spool and better low/mid-range response, making them more suitable for street-driven applications.

Summary of Differences:

  • Power: -5 & -10 make the most, -7 & -9 focus on response.
  • Spool: -7 & -9 spool faster (~3,300–3,500 RPM), -5 & -10 spool later (~4,000 RPM).
  • A/R Size: -5 (0.64), -7 (0.64), -9 (0.64), -10 (0.86).
